The Immunisation Refresher for Authorised Immunisation Healthcare Providers (One day workshop) is designed exclusively for AHPRA registered health professionals currently working as an approved vaccine provider.
Immunisation practice in Australia is constantly evolving, and it is critical for health professionals to keep knowledge and skills up to date and to maintain competence relevant to scope of practice.
Ongoing professional development is crucial for all health professionals in Australia to maintain clinical competency, meet Australian Health Professional Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) regulatory requirements, and ultimately to improve patient outcomes.
The Refresher aligns with the national legislative requirements while still allowing students to explore the specific elements of the state or territory they work in.
On successful completion, Students will be issued a Certificate of Attendance as a record of CPD hours completed.
Approved providers work in various settings, including community, primary healthcare, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, aged care, tertiary settings and corporate organisations.

Entrants to the Immunisation Refresher workshop will be required to submit evidence of their status as an approved immunisation provider or evidence of currently working for an authorised Vaccine Service Provider. This could include:
- Individuals who are currently administering immunisations as an approved vaccine provider
- Health professionals who have previously qualified as an Immuniser in Australia, but has not worked in this field for some time
- Health professionals who currently works under supervision administering immunisations, are not an authorised immunisation provider, but would like to complete this refresher to ensure they are industry current.
The course is an ideal opportunity for currently qualified health professionals to complete a comprehensive refresher covering a broad range of skills and knowledge including:
- Determine the National Immunisation Program Schedule
- Source information from the Catchup chapter in the Australian Immunisation Handbook
- Develop immunisation catch-up schedules
- Explain informed consent, risks and benefits of vaccines
- Demonstrate vaccination administration safely
- Practice adverse event management
- Reinforce the importance of recording and documenting an immunisation encounter.
This Immunisation Refresher promotes consistency across states and territories among qualified health professionals involved in the implementation and application of immunisation procedures.
The program is an ideal opportunity for currently qualified health professionals to complete a comprehensive program covering a broad range of skills and knowledge.
All students need to know their employers' policies and/or procedures, their state or territory legislation, and requirements to fully understand if they can practise as an Immunisation Provider and are working within their scope of practice.
Online learning plus a one-day virtual or face-to-face workshop
Each workshop day is facilitated and assessed by a highly experienced immunisation provider and qualified trainer and assessor.
The course's delivery and assessment include all required resources, including an immunisation practical skills training kit.
In person workshops available with an additional workshop fee.
To achieve the Certificate of Completion, students must demonstrate successfully the following:
- Simulated scenarios based on vaccine encounters
- Observed workshop skills practice with practical simulations and oral questioning.

In-person learning allows for real-time interaction between students and our team of expert trainers and assessors which facilitates asking questions, gaining feedback, and clearing up misunderstandings. Our course provides students with the opportunity to connect, problem-solve, and network with other students from a wide range of backgrounds.

We deliver dozens of workshops every year. Most are' virtual workshops,’ but we occasionally schedule a face-to-face workshop in a Capital city for those who prefer face-to-face. Our workshops have a one Trainer to 12 student ratio, ensuring plenty of support for those in attendance.

Once your final assessments of two completed catch-up schedules and the “Client Vaccination Encounter” documentation have been uploaded to your accessIQ student learning platform, an assessor will mark them and finalise this learning activity.
By enrolling with Benchmarque Group you will be supported by a passionate and responsive team of real humans available from 8:30am - 5pm (most days!). In addition, you will have access to our Expert Clinical Training team who are driven to support you through to competency. Our workshops are delivered by Immunisation Providers who still work in practice and hold cert IVs in Training and Assessment.
