Always was, always will be.

We acknowledge that the Benchmarque Group and accessIQ head office is situated on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nations.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. First Nations peoples have never ceded sovereignty and remain strong in their enduring connection to land and culture.

This land is, was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

We recognise the ongoing impacts of colonisation and subsequent government policies, including the removal of First Nations peoples from their families, lands and cultures, which continue to threaten the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The decision to continue our organisation’s journey, and our own journey towards reconciliation remains one of our proudest accomplishments.

Our vision for reconciliation

Benchmarque Group and accessIQ are privileged to launch our first Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

We recognise the enduring effects of colonisation and generational trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their families and communities.

Each day working in the healthcare sector, we see health inequality worsen. The decline in physical health through significant increases chronic disease, immunisation against preventable diseases are at the lowest rates, babies are born with low birthweights and Aboriginal Australian children and adults are three times more likely to experience high levels of psychological distress than other Australians.

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we will explore and implement a range of actions that work towards achieving our unique vision for reconciliation. We aspire to achieve authentic change, to be active listeners, story tellers and leaders within our industry and be part of an ongoing conversation with our customers, our stakeholders and our students about the importance of reconciliation and our commitment to this process.

Launching our new Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is the step towards being active in the conversation for change and true allyship.

From Followership to Allyship

Following the outcome of the 2023 Voice to Parliament Referendum, Benchmarque Group and accessIQ began a process to evaluate how we, as an organisation and a group of individuals, can strengthen our commitment towards allyship and use our privilege to advocate for equity and inclusion.

The process was driven by members of our RAP Working Group and senior leaders from across the business. Our senior staff facilitated conversations and gathered feedback from all staff to explore how we can transition from followership to allyship.

The three strategic pillars of our Allyship Strategy are advocacy and change, Cultural Safety, and learning.

Our Allyship Strategy underpins many of the deliverables in our Reconciliation Action Plan. The purpose of this document is to outline a three-year plan of measurable actions that will guide our work, decision-making, behaviours, and actions, alongside our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan.

Moving from an Innovate to a Stretch RAP

In 2023, Benchmarque Group and accessIQ applied to Reconciliation Australia to transition to a Stretch RAP, marking a significant step in our reconciliation journey.

Our Stretch RAP reflects our continued commitment to elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and tackling systemic inequalities.

The RAP Working Group, led by senior leadership, included representatives from across the organisation, ensuring diverse perspectives are incorporated into our approach.

Why Benchmarque
