The Graduate Certificate in Consumer and Community Engagement (10947NAT) is delivered by Health Issues Centre on behalf of The Benchmarque Group, enables health services and organisations’ key staff to acquire the advanced skills and knowledge to plan, implement and evaluate consumer engagement.
This course is delivered over four full days (two days in a week and two days after a two-week break) with additional self-directed course work including preparation and assessment.

Participants may enter the qualification if they can demonstrate that they have completed a degree, advanced diploma or diploma in a health consumer related field, or have five years relevant work experience in a health consumer related area.

To achieve competency in this course, students must:
All workplace activities must be completed in accordance with work health and safety standards and all other relevant workplace policies and procedures.
Create the capacity to research, develop and plan community engagement plans with this Graduate Certificate which is an important skill that is delivered by Health Issues Centre on behalf of Benchmarque Group. Learning how to research for funding and engage with community stakeholders are key aspects covered in this training.
The study days are usually scheduled as two blocks of two consecutive days and includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea breaks.
In most instances food and beverage facilities are available.
The facilitator will deliver the learning content in a blended manner, which requires participation form all students, these include small group workshop activities and discussion groups and presentations.

Continuing professional development is the means by which members of the clinical profession maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities required throughout their professional lives.
The CPD cycle involves reviewing practice, identifying learning needs, planning and participating in relevant learning activities, and reflecting on the value of those activities.

For all other health professionals completing this program, your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements may vary and it is important to remember that it is your responsibility to maintain and register CPD with your professional body. In many instances, your regulatory authority will recognise hours of learning as stated above.
18 months. The time is calculated from when a student is provided with online access to their assessment. Within the accessIQ platform, students will be provided an initial 12 months to complete and submit all required assessment activities. Friendly email reminders will be sent to students to ensure an assessment is completed on time. At the completion of the 12 month period, students can request up to a maximum of 2 extensions, each extension being for a period of 90 days. If requesting a second extension, the request must be in writing.
If you are deemed Not Yet Competent on your first and second assessment submissions, feedback will be provided. It is very important that you read all the feedback provided. The Assessor will have identified any areas where additional evidence is required or any questions that need to be reviewed and resubmitted. If, after 3 unsuccessful submissions, you are unable to demonstrate competency on your assessment, your assessment will be deemed Not Competent. Feedback will be provided to you and what the possible following steps and outcomes are.
To gain competency, you are required to undertake a series of small projects and research pieces. The assessment is work-based, providing you with material to plan and implement consumer engagement across the organisation.
