As a general guide, one hour of active learning equates to one hour of CPD. It is the responsibility of the individual student to calculate how many hours of active learning have been completed. The hours of active learning estimated above should act as a guide to CPD hours.

Overview
This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge to perform ear health examinations and hearing health evaluations. Students will learn the fundamentals of performing otoscopy, tympanometry, and the theoretical components of audiometric screening, whilst also understanding the associated risks and complications.
Although you are technically ‘workplace ready’, to ensure best practice we recommend that you are observed by a peer in your workplace before performing otoscopy and tympanometry on clients. Please note, all ear health assessment activities must be undertaken in accordance with your workplace policies and procedures.
The three-day face-to-face workshop incorporates all components required to complete a safe and effective ear health assessment. You will feel confident performing otoscopy, tympanometry, and demonstrate the theoretical components of audiometric screening as well as gaining the ability to identify common ear health conditions.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the auditory system
- Perform a comprehensive ear health examination
- Identify contraindications to proceed with hearing assessment
- Perform otoscopy
- Perform tympanometry
- Understand the results post otoscopy assessment and tympanometry screening
- Recognise ear abnormalities
- Recognise the need to refer to a specialist
- Give the patient a comprehensive explanation of the examination findings
- Document the examination findings and outcome in the patient’s history
- Perform a paediatric ear health assessment
- Accurately identify a range of conditions of the auditory system
- Apply a broad knowledge of strategies to manage a range of middle ear conditions
- Provide client-centred education to support health promotion
- Outline any follow-up required and make appropriate specialist referrals as needed.

No, but we strongly recommend completing the Hearing and Ear Health Foundations for Healthcare Professionals prior to attending. It is a great way to learn or refresh your memory on the fundamentals of ear health, particularly a detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology, in preparation for this program. Access to this online program is offered free of charge on registration onto EHAP.
If you are looking to gain advanced skills in a range of techniques to perform ear health assessments, then this program is for you. You will learn the fundamentals of performing otoscopy, tympanometry, performing adult and paediatric ear health assessments and the theoretical components of audiometric screening, whilst also understanding the associated risks and complications.
On enrolment you will be asked to pay upfront by credit card or on a payment plan. The cost of the Ear Health Assessment Program is $3500.
- If you choose to pay upfront then you will receive a discount of $500! This brings the upfront costs down to $3000, (which you can pay by credit card).

Yes! Once you have completed the workshop, you will be accredited and workplace ready to perform otoscopy, tympanometry and perform paediatric and adult ear health assessments. The best part is all assessments are completed during the workshop so you will have no workplace or online assessments to complete.
Although you are technically ‘workplace ready’, to ensure best practice we recommend that you are observed by a peer in your workplace before performing irrigation procedures on clients. Please note, all irrigation activities must be undertaken in accordance with your workplace policies and procedures.
This program takes approximately 21 hours of active learning. The hours of active learning should act as a guide to CPD hours. It is the responsibility of the individual student to calculate how many hours of active learning they have completed. As a general guide, one hour of active learning equates to one hour of CPD.
In the final session of the 3 day program you will receive a Statement of Attainment. On successful completion of the program, you will receive a Statement of Attainment. A Statement of Attainment is issued only once an individual has successfully completed all accredited units.
