Course Description
Much of what we do in our lives relies on communication, interpretation and motivation.
Working with clients, patients, colleagues and peers through stress and illnesses that impact on their lives and ongoing management is the basis of coaching.
Coaching skills are essential in any modern work environment as we strive to promote self management skills and life skills for our clients to produce fulfilling results, improve performance and enhance the quality of their lives.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a discipline seen as providing motivation, encouragement, stimulation and education. Coaching uses multiple methods and approaches for individuals to gain the best results.
The Coaching role acknowledges that one method does not provide everything for all individuals. The skill to identify what will best meet a persons needs, know what options are available, how to provide support and reinforce messages given by other professionals are paramount to the role.
The aim of Coaching is to work in a motivating and supportive role with the client in collaboration with other personnel or agencies as appropriate to address their individual needs.
The Coaching role can include:
- Education - information shared with the client
- Trust and rapport
- Use of coaching models that are best suited to the clients individual needs and personality
- Collaborative formulation of an agreed plan for the clients to follow
- The use of subjective/objective measures to define and assess goal achievement
- Support of and collaboration with the client on how to best accomplish these goals through identifying barriers to changes and lifestyle modification advice
- Collaboration with other people or agencies to assist with the attainment of these goals
The course is particularly relevant for nurses, allied health professionals, teachers, personal trainers or anyone working in an environment where developing strong communication skills, establishing rapport or developing quality relationships is critical to their business or industry.
This course provides immediate and ongoing results for people to improve their health and lifestyle outcomes.
At the conclusion of the program, successful participants will be issued with a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment.
