APNA, Australian Practice Nurses Association

National Credentialing Program

The Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA) is pleased to notify you that it has been appointed as the Credentialing Organisation for the credentialing of Chronic Disease Self Management (CDSM) Advisors in Australia.

Over the last 5 years, APNA has been integrally involved in supporting professional development of nurses in general practice, including administering an extensive scholarship program, provision of online and face to face training and more recently, the development of a CPD quality endorsement program for third party education providers. It is therefore with great excitement that we take up the role of CDSM Advisor Credentialing, in line with our previous achievements.

As you know, Chronic Disease Self Management is a growing part of health professionals’ roles as we see the increase in chronic disease. APNA will bring to the Credentialing process a strong commitment to quality, and a professional approach to ensuring that your qualifications, experience and professional standing are recognised appropriately.

We will be implementing a consistent and systematic process for Credentialing of CDSM Advisors overseen by an independent management committee comprising health professionals, consumers and experts. Our key objective is to see that credentialed CDSM Advisors will be recognised as credible, safe and effective providers of Chronic Disease Self Management through ensuring a process which has rigour and integrity.

Further information on the credentialing process is available on the APNA website - http://www.apna.asn.au/adsma

We send you our best wishes for the completion of your course, and we will be in contact soon with further information about the Credentialing process.

Kind Regards,

Belinda Caldwell
